Craig Larson joined Lane Hospitality as General Manager in 1995 and opened the world's first Hampton Inn & Suites. As General Manager of the Hampton Inn, Newport News, Virginia, the hotel has received the Roy E. Winegardner award for ‘Inn of the Year' and has won several ‘Catch Me At My Best' awards over the past three years. He won the President's Award in 1997, and was promoted to Regional Director of Hotel Operations in 1998. Prior to joining Lane Hospitality, he was named ‘General Manager of the Year' by IMIC Hotels for the Hampton Inn in Raleigh, North Carolina. 

 

Craig's career in the hotel industry began in 1984 as he worked for Embassy Suites, Promus Hotel Company, while completing his undergraduate studies at Christopher Newport University. He was instrumental in the first Homewood Suites conversion in Charlotte in 1992. Until 1993, he worked for Promus Hotel Company at all three of their brands -- Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn. 

 

Throughout his career, Craig has been active in numerous associations, including President of the Newport News Hospitality Association; Board Member of the City of Newport News Tourism Advisory Board; Advisory Board Member of the Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association, and Member of the Oyster Point Rotary.
